I called HP again and they said that the printer is out of warranty and can't be fixed so I should just scrap it and buy a new one. I called HP and they sent me replacement cartridges (M and Y) and I got the same error! It's very frustrating because HP, in their wisdom, shuts down ALL functions of the printer. I tried cleaning the contacts on both the printhead and the cartridges and it didn't help. What?! If I replace the new cartridges with the old it says they are low on ink but no "compatibility" problem. After gettting low ink warnings on the M and Y inks I replaced them with genuine HP cartridges (951XL) but I got an error that reads "The following cartridges are not intended for use in this printer". I have a HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus that I'm I've been pleased with until now.
